World Poetry Day – The Hero Within

In honour of World Poetry Day, here’s a little something I just had to say. Thankfully I was able to get this done before the end of the day, not that I mind anyway, since pretty much every other day feels and seems like Poetry day :).

The Hero Within

People like being Messiahs,
They love saviors,
They love believers,
They adore heroes,
They find purpose to strive
towards,
Fixing all that isn’t theirs.
They like having answers,
They think are key,
To solving all those things,
That seems to leave you and me
in a fix.
They like being the ones,
To constantly shove your failures
In your face;
The constant reminders,
Of your losses and failing grace…
Everyone wants someone to save,
Everyone wants to be the one
That takes your world by storm;
To be all that
They wish they could have been.
Projection becomes a fixation,
Observation, introspection and reflection,
Nothing but mere distractions,
Perfection a new obsession.
So here is the bitterest of truths,
Everyone wants a hero,
Everyone wants to be saved,
From walking off the edge of the
ledge,
Of that cliff they call fear.
They go looking in crevices and
cracks,
For legends and inspiration,
When the only hero they ever
needed,
Is the reflection,
They saw day in and day out
in the mirror.
Cracked, broken,
At times beyond repair,
At other times,
Restructured, replaced, reorganized,
But ever faithful,
And never leaving their side.
The one they glossed over,
Snarled at, growled at,
But never paid attention to.

Pariah

Well who said there’s a shortage of words? All you need is me spewing a few every other day :D. Apparently the Faktoree is in overproduction mode, so I guess make hay while the sun shines?

Pariah

Hanging around the corners,
Hearing whispers of
‘Stranger,’ ‘Freak,’ ‘Weirdo,’
All around you,
Being the one that countless,
fingers point to,
With sniggers lining your way,
As you walk on by.
Where it’s always been you,
Against the world,
Or at least so it seems,
On most days.
The outcast, the rebel,
That loser, that poser,
The bully, the bullied,
The labels, they never stop.
Whatever happened to just being
human?
Whatever happened,
To that once sacred notion,
Of being unique and different,
Yet being the same under it all?
Whatever happened to diversity?
Whatever happened to being
stronger together?
Whatever happened to sticking up
for each other?
Whatever happened to strength,
Integrity and character?
Did we just let our morals,
Bleed out like mere casualties,
To an unknown and unseen war?
Whatever happened,
To never judging a book by it’s
cover?
How did we let it get so far?
How did we let it get out of hand?
Why is it easier to point fingers
at each other,
And not ourselves?
At this merry mess,
We’ve all been part of,
And hell, we even created?
Why is the outsider the outcast?
The newcomer,
Not given a chance,
Nor one you consider,
Worth a glance?
We talk about building a better
world,
A better future,
With resonating phrases,
And inspiring words.
But what’s your word worth,
To that outsider,
That you deemed and damned,
As one that never belonged?
The one you ever so graciously,
Tagged on the title of a non-conformer,
And dismissed,
Without even a second glance?
Remember all those times,
And all those countless faces,
Because sooner or later,
We all become our own outsiders,
We all become the very ones,
we condemn,
And tie down,
With our countless chains,
Aspiring and fighting to break free,
From these shackles of hate
and judgment,
Until our very last breath,
Until we finally spread our wings
and fly.

Helter Skelter

Apparently it doesn’t take much to get the riled up brain to get even more riled up a.k.a inspiration in some parts of the world I reckon. Not sure what this piece turned out to be, probably just a dissonant discombobulated lump of words slapped around here and there lol. Have a good weekend people!

Helter Skelter

When crashing seemed inevitable,

When burning with the rubble seemed
Far from implausible.
When the finality of your words
and actions,
Led to separating us
Into me and you.
When all the dreams,
We once dreamed and shared,
Disintegrated and fragmented,
Before our very own eyes.
With no preamble,
No warnings…
Sending the world we once knew,
The one, we once built carefully,
Into a tailspin of uncertainty,
Laced with bitterness, regrets
and loneliness,
Pulling us apart farther.
Under the guise of needing space,
We drift farther apart.
Taking the world poles apart,
Stretching out the aching distance,
Yawning between us,
Until we reach the ends of oblivion.
Swallowed whole,
By the harsh and treacherous winds,
Hurtling towards us.
Gone are the sparks of life,
Of mischief and adventure,
That once filled the depths of our eyes.
Here we drift and blow,
Like tumbleweed
Windswept, strewn asunder,
Purposeless, lifeless and
eternally aimless.

Ru…Ru…Ruckus

Ru…Ru…Ruckus

When the weight of the world
Doesn’t hold back
And crushes you,
And what little remains,
Of the spirit that is you.
When all doors seem to close,
Every few steps you get closer.
When a new chapter arises,
Every time you feel,
Your story has been told.
Every time you pick yourself,
You get pushed back down,
Harder, faster and farther.
When all that lives in your heart,
Are the frigid overtones
Of despair, loneliness,
Anxiety and fear,
And that brief shadow of hope,
That is a breath away from being
extinguished.
When you are just one blow away,
From being a follower like
everyone else.
Because, trying to be different,
And being a leader,
Only led you down
A path of turmoil and toil.
Where most days,
All that simmered within,
Was a heady concoction of anger,
And pure rage,
At the obstacles that seemed,
Inevitable and unavoidable,
Every step of the way.
Where nobody heard the pain
in your screams,
The anguish in your teary streams.
Where every setback,
Was blamed on your lack of dedication.
Where each morning,
Looking in the mirror,
You saw a piece of you falling away,
And the rest of you falling apart.
Where pretending to a prescribed
standard,
Became the new normal.
Where the words you spoke,
Seemed to diminish,
Yet remained unseen and unknown.
Where your silence,
Was taken as a sign of adherence.
To the standard of ignorance and indifference,
That we all prefer to embrace faster,
Than a challenge
That requires our participation.
Where the pioneer, you once were
And you still know somewhere in the
back of your mind,
That you are,
Is shunned and abandoned,
Mocked and ridiculed,
For even dreaming to be different,
Faster than the follower,
Who sets their feet in footprints
left behind,
One after another.
Walking in another’s path,
Travelling the same journey,
Under a different name.
Killing all sense of adventure and
curiosity,
That made us thrive and strive,
And gave us our drive.
Where there is nothing to forgive,
And everything to forget.
Where you and I,
Aren’t people anymore,
But mere means to an end.
Where you’re evaluated,
Not by integrity,
But by the abilities,
To deceive, falsify and repeat
Inexplicable lies,
And bury unspoken truths.
Where being delusional,
Is the new normal;
And having preset programmed
responses,
Considered traits of being normal.
Where visionaries aren’t lauded,
Where hooligans are applauded.
Where children are told to be original
and creative.
But then are shown that originality and
imagination,
Are nothing more than mere childhood
fantasies to be shunned.
Where dreams aren’t to be chased,
Because they’ll never feed you in coming days.
Where it’s acceptable,
To let all the pieces of you break apart,
and fall away.
Until one day,
When you look in that mirror,
And see that all the signs,
That made you who you were,
Have finally come apart and given way,
And turned you into,
Yet another voiceless and faceless resident,
Another statistic,
Gathered, sifted and noted away,
In the annals of history,
To be never looked back on ever again.
So make your mark,
Break the shackles,
Toss away those masks that hide away,
that beautiful face.
Reveal the cracks, reveal the faults,
Release the pain,
From all that you’ve lost.
Relinquish your hold,
On your dreams, on your goals.
Own your mistakes, own your losses.
Failure is your best guide,
Your ultimate teacher.
In fact,
It is the only sign, the only indicator
That tells you you’re doing something
right.
Walk your path,
Even if you’re the only one doing so.
Because sooner or later,
Being the anomaly,
Makes you the liberator and reformer,
That starts a revolution,
To strive for things,
Far beyond ordinary and mundane.

Mad Max Fury Road

Mad Max Fury Road
Holy Jaesus! It only took me this long to watch it, due to very reasonable reasons might I add. But all things aside, I finally did watch it and Holy %#@$#$ it was quite a visual & cinematic experience. I wasn’t really expecting much from the movie and I had very low expectations. Why? Because the earlier version of Mad Max never really caught my fantasy and the steam punky nature of things along with this whole post apocalyptic scenario didn’t exactly appeal to me. I heard great things about it, even then I wasn’t too stoked to watch it. But boy oh boy am I glad I finally did. I’m not gonna take up too much space & place with this review, mostly because it is my understanding that I might be the last human being on this planet that finally watched this movie, therefore you all know what happens, if not there’s always Google to ruin your day/quench your curiosity so on and so forth.

Holy Shit….wait let me rephrase…HOLY SHITTT!!!!! Tom flipping Hardy is one helluva actor. Just when I think this guy has hit his peak, he goes and does something like this & boom you have to re-think his potential. When this guy plays a character, not only does he get into the physicality of it (like Christian Bale) but shit he becomes that character. He creates mannerisms, vocal pitches and timbres, facial characteristics, basically he modifies everything about himself to be the character. He’s so precise with it that it’s not just an external presentation, it literally goes down to the bone where this guy and his characters are concerned.

Moving on from fangirling over Tom Hardy let’s move on to the next stellar actor/actress in this cinematic adventure….Charlize Theron. All I have to say is Charlize Theron…who is that? OH you mean Imperator Furiosa?!?! Man toss in another cess pool of talent along with some high octane action sequences and BOOM you’ve just created magic. I just got a new bad-ass hero to add to my list of ultimate if not most epic heroes/heroines EVER! Start to finish Charlize Theron exudes, flourishes & shines in her role as Furiosa with her lethality & vulnerability.

Last but not the least I have to mention the technical aspects of the flick. Take a bow George Miller. The stunning use of colour, music and locales pretty much adds to the body of this edge of the seat action dramaga (drama + saga) and I cannot wait to see how Max’s story unfolds. I really enjoyed how the geography, topography pretty much set the tone if not reflected the ppl from those areas.

Here’s the best part though that I interpreted from the flick (maybe I found something too deep that may have not been there.) Everyone wants to go out in glory and be witnessed while they make their way to Valhalla. Question remains which Valhalla do you choose? The one that’s been pre-defined by a buncha ponces who claim to be leaders, or, the one you make your way towards by doing what you know to be the true and right?

Well let me know what you guys thought of the movie down below in the comments section, and have yerselves a fantastic weekend.
